Broadway to launch new website in January 2019

Over the past six months, we’ve been redeveloping our website to make sure your online experience is the best it can be, and next week we’ll be relaunching www.broadway.org.uk with a new design and layout.

This is to ensure that your online Broadway experience becomes even better!

Why change the website?

Our current website has served us well over the past 8 years, but during this time we have seen a huge rise in customers using mobile devices to book tickets – which can be a frustrating experience when using a website that isn’t entirely mobile-friendly.

It’s because of this changing method of interaction that our priority has been to create a website that works well on any number of devices, whilst also making sure that everything we offer is given more prominence than before.

How did you test it?

You may remember receiving an email in 2018 asking you to take part in website testing. We’d like to thank those of you (over 100 of you in fact!) who did - either remotely or in person.

These tests looked closely at how people interacted with a basic version of the new website. The results of this study were vital in ensuring that our new site works logically and complements what customers typically look for when visiting our website.

This gave us a good foundation to start building something that would work for everyone, on any device.

What’s changed?

The new website offers a level of mobile responsiveness we have not had before and showcases the full breadth of what Broadway offers, as well as being more accessible for customers who have special requirements online.

We’ve retained those elements of the current website that work such as easy access to our programme from the homepage, a ‘next 7-days' view, and an easily accessible calendar so you can plan your visits to Broadway weeks in advance.

However, we’ve taken the time to change those parts of the current site that perhaps don’t work as well for us - and you - such as our search function, ticket ordering, the showcasing of other services offered by Broadway, and highlighting our impact as a charity in the local community and beyond.

I’m having trouble using the new site - can someone help?

We’ve been testing the design for the past 7 weeks but when we go live you may find something we’ve missed, so please don’t hesitate to contact us on website@broadway.org.uk to let us know. If you’re struggling to book tickets, then please contact the Box Office on 0115 952 6611 and we’ll be happy to help you through it.

Thank you again for your continued support and here’s to a great 2019.

Best wishes,

Stewart Terry
