Broadway leads Film Hub Midlands in partnership with Flatpack Projects

Welcome to Film Hub Midlands, part of the BFI Film Audience Network (FAN) led by Broadway Nottingham and Flatpack Projects and supported with National Lottery funding.

As set out in BFI2022 (link to http://www.bfi.org.uk/2022/), the BFI is launching key developments to build on the success of the Film Audience Network across the UK. A unique collaboration made up of eight Hubs managed by leading film organisations and venues strategically placed around the country, FAN has been the backbone of the BFI’s strategy to ensure the greatest choice of film is available for everyone.

As part of this strategy, the geography of the current Film Audience Network has been revised, including the creation of a new Film Hub Midlands. The strategy and leadership of this new Hub will be formed by a partnership between Broadway and Flatpack Projects in Birmingham.

Film Hub Midlands provides resources, training and funding for film exhibition with a particular emphasis on growing new audiences for British independent and international film and raising awareness of film and film culture in the region.

In a new move, National Lottery funding will see six BFI NETWORK talent executives appointed in the English Hubs to give greater support to new and emerging talent where they live. This recognises the strength of the Hubs as spaces for filmmakers and audiences to meet and reflects the BFI NETWORK offer which already exists in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The ambition is to ensure all aspiring talent across the UK can access support, as well as benefit from signposting to the full scope of funding and training opportunities available. We shall be recruiting for a Talent Executive for the Midlands to promote access to, oversee and provide support for short films and feature film concepts in the coming weeks.

Win a copy of Martin McDonagh's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri screenplay book and a baseball cap

Martin McDonagh’s darkly comic THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI is released this Friday 12 January, and we’ve got a copy of the screenplay book and a baseball cap to give away to one lucky winner, courtesy of our friends at Twentieth Century Fox!

For your chance to win, simply send us the answer to the following question as well as your name and address to competition@broadway.org.uk :-

What is the name of Martin McDonagh’s 2008 black comedy starring Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson as hitmen hiding out in Belgium?

Best of luck!

THREE BILLBOARDS OUTSIDE EBBING, MISSOURI is a darkly comic drama from Academy Award winner Martin McDonagh.

After months have passed without a culprit in her daughter’s murder case, Mildred Hayes (Academy Award winner Frances McDormand) makes a bold move, painting three signs leading into her town with a controversial message directed at William Willoughby (Academy Award nominee Woody Harrelson), the town’s revered chief of police.

When his second-in-command Officer Dixon (Sam Rockwell), an immature mother’s boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between Mildred and Ebbin’s law enforcement is only exacerbated.
