LOVE WATCHING OR MAKING FILMS? WANT TO PURSUE a CAREER IN FILM? THEN APPLY NOW!
Broadway is looking for 20 committed and passionate 16-19 year olds from all backgrounds to be part of our future film industry. You don’t need any experience to apply, just lots of enthusiasm!
Our BFI Film Academy offers an inclusive and supportive experience through a twelve-week process of practical and theoretical masterclasses delivered by respected film industry professionals. Students will receive first-hand accounts of, not only of what their jobs involve, but the journeys they took to get there.
AS A STUDENT OF THE FILM ACADEMY, YOU WILL:
· Make a short film as part of a team
· Get hands-on filmmaking practice to develop your practical knowledge and skills
· Delve into your own creative passions and interests in a supportive and dynamic environment
· Gain priceless one-to-one experience of working alongside respected industry professionals
· Watch a range of British and World cinema, from independent to specialised feature and short films
· Work towards an industry recognised NCFE ‘Preparing to Work in the Film Industry’ qualification.
All participants will receive over 100 hours of taught activity through the main course.
Writers will have additional hours with our industry guest tutor - writer and director Steven Sheil - to complete their scripts for the final three short films made as part of the course. In addition, the editors of the three films will self-direct post-production activity.
Why not watch the great short films made by previous students on our course?
“Taking part in the BFI Film Academy was genuinely one of the best choices I could have made as a young aspiring filmmaker. I made many friends that were also aspiring filmmakers, I was tutored by industry professionals with experience and learnt loads of valuable lessons about filmmaking. Since completing the course, it’s been non-stop for me. I have taken part in the NFTS Specialist Craft Skills Residential as a Director. I’m also waiting to be paired with an industry professional as part of the BFI’s BAFTA Mentorship scheme. As well as that, I’ll be working as a Camera Trainee at Pinewood Studios on a huge feature film production which I am overjoyed about and cannot wait to start! Broadway’s BFI Film Academy has given me a massive boost in my career as a filmmaker, and has provided me with astonishing opportunities. Doing these courses has actually made me believe I could have a career in the film industry.” Ravi, 19, BFI Film Academy 6 participant at Broadway
